October is Virginia Wine Month

Virginia is celebrating its 25th year with October as Virginia Wine Month. Virginia Wine Month, launched in 1988 with approximately 50 wineries, today houses 230 wineries across the state. October is not only the perfect month to view the fall foliage, but also to stretch your palate and taste some unique offerings from local wineries. Some varietals to consider that are representative of Virginia’s terroir and not found in many other wine regions are: Norton, Chambourcin, Vidal Blanc, Petit Mensang just to name a few.
